Q. Where can I have my skipped dropped?
A. Skips can be dropped on a private property such as your drive way. Skips can also be dropped at businesses, offices or factories. For contractors and builders we also offer waste disposal services for customer locations.
The time allowed for depositing or collecting a skip is 20 minutes. If the vehicle is kept waiting longer than this after arrival, the hirer may be liable for any waiting time incurred.
Please do not re-position skips after delivery. This may make it difficult to recover the full container.
Please ensure clear access is available on the day when full skips are due for collection.
Q. Do I need permission from the council to place a skip on the road?
A. Yes, we will do this for you on your behalf. The councils charge a small fee, the licence will then be valid for 1 month. If a skip is to be placed on a public highway Chilton Waste Services will arrange all appropriate permits. The provision and maintenance of warning signs and/or lights will be the hirers responsibility.
Q. What if I cannot get a skip licence?
A. For skip licence refusals, we offer a wait and load service, where the driver will wait while you load the skip. Please contact us for further information.
Q. How do I book a skip?

Q. How long can I keep a skip?
A. The standard skip hire is for a period of between 7 and 10 days, but can be extended if required. Customers are advised to contact us personally to arrange an extension in advance.
Q. Are there any skip loading requirements?
A. Skips must not be loaded above the top of the skip. Materials must not be used to increase the size of the skip. Never overload a skip! If the load is too heavy, it cannot be lifted. If the load is piled too high, it is unsafe to transport. Drivers may refuse to collect an overloaded skip or may unload any surplus. Additional charges for this will be the liability of the hirer.
Q. Is there anything I cannot put into a skip?
A. In accordance with environmental legislation, NO Fridges, freezer, batteries, TV’s, Computer Equipment, Fluorescent Tubes, Fuel tanks, paint, tyres asbestos, gas cylinders, drummed or liquid waste, any contaminated waste to be placed in Skips.
If such items are discovered by the driver at the time of collection, he is obliged to extract these from the skip and to return them to the customer. Should the driver fail to discover this, the waste will be subject to close examination at the point of discharge and any such items will then be extracted from the waste. A surcharge will be levied and charged directly to the customer. The level of this surcharge will depend on the quantity and exact description of the waste in question and is structured such that it covers the extra costs incurred by us for the special disposal of this waste at an alternative site plus the additional administration costs involved.
Materials must not be burnt in skips. Any damage caused as a result of fire will be the liability of the hirer.
