Whilst the primary function of the business is waste collection, Chilton Waste Services is acutely aware of the ever increasing need for recycling and therefore one of the key objectives of the Company is to reclaim and recycle the maximum possible amount of materials from the incoming waste streams.

Sorting of waste streams has a great new impact on the environment, particularly by reducing the amount of waste destined for landfill.

Materials currently recycled and available for sale once processed are:

Wood Chippings – The size and quality of the product attained from this process is ideal for use in general landscaping.
Crushed Hardcore – Reclaimed hardcore from the recycling process is crushed to form a product with the specification of 6F5. This is a good, sound product, ideal for use in the construction trade, in particular for the purpose of foundation work and roadways.
Screened Soil – The soil produced on site is subject to controls and testing by an independent agency at sporadic intervals. The end-product is a good free-draining material which finds its use as an ideal sub-soil in general landscaping and land restoration.

All recyclable materials are sold to the customer at a considerable price advantage over and above the cost of the primary materials. In this way it is hoped that the customer will be encouraged to use recyclable products as oppose to primary materials. This not only reduces the onus on primary resources, but it also makes a positive contribution in helping the UK to meet its targets as defined in the EU Directive.
